Aecon Power Services is a design build high voltage electrical contracting firm that provides the highest quality in products and services for electrical utilities, independent power producers and large power users. Reporting to the site supervisor, the Electrician Apprentice will be responsible for providing support and in-depth knowledge in the field regarding all matters of electrical construction matters to ensure Aecon Power Services achieves their general and specific project requirements. What You Will Do Here: * Travel to remote locations and work at heights outdoors in all types of weather conditions * Work with heavy equipment and cranes * Provide input relating to the resolution of any design or installation issue. * Troubleshoot and isolate faults in electrical and electronic systems and remove and replace faulty components. * Install, replace, and repair lighting fixtures and electrical control and distribution equipment, such as switches, relays, and circuit breaker panels. * Test continuity of circuits using test equipment to ensure compatibility and safety of system, and if need be, replacing or repair following proper installation guidelines. * Participate in all aspects of substation construction on both brown and green field sites. * Install and maintain electrical equipment and apparatus in generating stations or powerhouses * Install and maintain electrical power distribution equipment such as transformers, generators, voltage regulators, switches, circuit breakers, capacitors, inductors, above/below ground conduit, ground grid, structural steel and fabricate control panels, brackets, and hangers * Be a positive team member through open communication and active participation in performing crew tasks * Drive an inclusive culture to promote equity, diversity, and inclusion by welcoming different perspectives, and enable career progression by fostering a sense of belonging. What You Bring to The Team: * Experience in electrical commercial construction and maintenance * Electrician and industry related safety certification * Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to effectively communicate verbally and written * Capable of working at various heights. With the ability to stand, crouch and kneel for long periods of time. * Knowledge to interpret Canadian electrical code with a high level of mathematical aptitude * Willingness to travel and work in remote job locations * Mechanical strength and manual dexterity with the ability to distinguish colors to work with color-coded wiring * Adhere to all company and client health and safety guidelines and regulationsThe expected pay range for this position is $21.83 - $47.74/hr.
