Aecon Power Services, is a design build high voltage electrical contracting firm that provides the highest quality in products and services for electrical utilities, independent power producers and large power users. Reporting to the site supervisor, the Journeyperson Electrician will be responsible for providing support and in-depth knowledge in the field regarding all matters of electrical construction matters to ensure Aecon Power Services achieves their general and specific project requirements. What You Will Do Here: * Participate in all aspects of substation construction on both brown and green field sites. * Install and maintain electrical equipment and apparatus in generating stations or powerhouses * Read and interpret drawings, circuit diagrams and electrical code specifications to determine wiring layouts for new or existing installations, splice, join and connect wire to fixtures and components to form circuits. * Install and maintain electrical power distribution equipment such as transformers, generators, voltage regulators, switches, circuit breakers, capacitors, inductors, above/below ground conduit, ground grid, structural steel and fabricate control panels, brackets, and hangers * Inspect and test installed electrical equipment and apparatus to locate electrical faults and check their operation, using volt meters, ammeters and other electrical test instruments and equipment * Adhere to all company and client occupational health and safety guidelines and regulations * Ensure all electrical installations follow applicable regulations and trade practices. * Complete maintenance & safety reports and ensure paperwork is completed timely and legibly * Scope and order material for projects and daily work requirements * Travel to remote locations and work at heights outdoors in all types of weather conditions * Work with heavy equipment and cranes * Provide input relating to the resolution of any design or installation issue. * Troubleshoot and isolate faults in electrical and electronic systems and remove and replace faulty components. * Install, replace, and repair lighting fixtures and electrical control and distribution equipment, such as switches, relays, and circuit breaker panels. * Test continuity of circuits using test equipment to ensure compatibility and safety of system, and if need be, replacing or repair following proper installation guidelines. * Be a positive team member through open communication and active participation in coordinating crew tasks * Drive an inclusive culture to promote equity, welcome different perspectives, and enable career * progression by fostering a sense of belonging. What You Bring to The Team: * Journeyperson Electrician and industry related safety certification * Experience in electrical commercial construction and maintenance * A professional and respectful attitude with a strong customer service focus * Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to effectively communicate verbally and written * Ability to work independently and cohesively within groups * Capable of working at various heights. With the ability to stand, crouch and kneel for long periods of time. * Knowledge to interpret Canadian electrical code with a high level of mathematical aptitude * Willingness to travel and work in remote job locations * Mechanical strength and manual dexterity with the ability to distinguish colors to work with color-coded wiring * Be a champion of inclusion and diversityThe expected pay for this position is $53.05/hr.
