BOYDS BEARS was founded in 1984 by Gary and Tina Lowenthal. They were the owners of an antique shop in Boyds, Maryland, USA, and had difficulty maintaining an inventory of well priced antiques. The Lowenthals therefore created the 'Boyds Bears' line of Teddy Bears. These bears were such a hit, that they moved on to a whole new line of gift merchandise which became the Boyds Bears & Friends American Collectibles. Boyds Bears stopped production in 2014." This throw blanket is made in America by MWW. (Manual Woodworkers & Weavers Inc.).It is 100% cotton. There is a story being told in the work. Two of Boyds Bears, Sissie and Squirt, are taking a birdbath quencher. The tapestry title 'Friendship is Uplifting' takes on additional meaning as one bear lifts and supports the other to enable a drink.
