The Butchart Gardens - Custodial

DEPARTMENT: VISITOR SERVICES - CUSTODIAL POSITIONS: MEN’S & LADIES’ CUSTODIAL The Custodial Department is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene standards of washrooms and general buildings including vacuuming, mopping, washing, and garbage/recycling pickup. This department regularly interacts with the public and are often relied upon to answer general inquiries. The successful candidate will be required to: • clean and sanitize washrooms including toilets, sinks, and other washroom fixtures • clean staff and visitor areas in various buildings and restaurants • collect, dispose of, and sort garbage and recycling materials • vacuum, mop, and wash floors • maintain and replenish stock in washrooms • work efficiently while unsupervised • respond to visitor inquiries by providing information about The Gardens • report issues such as damaged or broken equipment to their supervisors • assist with other jobs as required from time to time The successful candidate must possess the following qualifications and demonstrated attributes: • valid driver’s license with clean driver’s abstract • ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively • An excellent demonstrated understanding of how to provide exceptional visitor service • good organization skills and attention to detail • physically able to perform repetitive tasks such as bending, lifting and reaching This is a full time, seasonal position from April through October, with a part time training period beginning in April. This position requires evening and shift work, plus occasional overtime. Wage is starting from $22.50 an hour.
