Position Title: Clinical Dietitian Department: Therapeutic $40.75 - $50.87/hr Reports To: Site Manager Date Last Reviewed: November, 2016 Job Summary Reporting to the Site Manager, the Clinical Dietitian provides high quality nutrition support to Long Term Care/Complex Care residents. The Clinical Dietitian is primarily responsible for nutrition and dysphagia assessments, and development and maintenance of a nutrition care plan for residents, taking into account the resident’s needs and values while using the best evidence available to make decisions. The Clinical Dietitian advocates for residents to ensure they receive optimal nutrition and hydration care by providing education to residents, families and staff as needed while participating or initiating nutrition-focused quality improvement/assurance activities. Qualifications Educational and other Qualifications * University degree in Food and Nutrition * Current registration with Provincial College of Dietitians (Alberta or British Columbia) * Restricted Activity A through the College of Dietitians of BC (BC Dietitians only) * Class 5 driver license and clean drivers abstract * Additional training in dysphagiaWork Experience * Health related work experience, primarily in the long-term care fieldKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities * Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel) * Sound clinical nutrition knowledge and skills in areas relevant to eldercare * Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to deal effectively with conflict in a diplomatic andprofessional manner * Adept at written and oral communication with internal and external customers * Exhibit an open and sincere approach by demonstrating respect and compassion for everyoneequally * Maintain an individual's dignity and self-worth during conversations * Excellent active listening skills * Demonstrate flexibility by changing routine to accommodate client/resident needs * Accept, implement and evaluate on going change * High degree of independence, flexibility and commitment * Willingness to participate in or lead committees and projects * Working knowledge of provincial legislative documents for complex care/long term care.Duties * Completes nutrition and/or dysphagia assessments of residents or clients as required * Develops care plans using GSS regional documents and technology in a concise and accurate manner that meets organizational, legislative and legal requirements * Communicates changes in nutrition goals, diets and treatment to appropriate decision makers (guardian, agent, resident) and team members * Contributes to the collaborative process by participating in the admission/discharge process and care conferences * Identifies, adopts and provides input into best practice standards for nutritional care * Advocates for residents to ensure they receive optimal nutrition and hydration care by initiating and participating in quality improvement activities * Maintains records such as dining sheets and cards, care plans, to do lists and questionnaires that meet GSS and site specific requirements * Provides individual and group nutrition education and in-services to staff and residents as required * Participates in quality assurance activities ensuring GSS standards and policies are being maintained * Participates in the development and revision of policies related to Nutrition and Food Service * Maintains a high standard of cleanliness, keeping the work environment consistently tidy * Adheres to all infection control practices and procedures * Pursues continual learning by participating in educational opportunities, in-services and/or training programs * Ensures an environment and resources which nurture spirituality * Maintains confidentiality on issues related to residents, employee matters and GSS information * Commits to supporting the Mission, Vision and Values of GSS * Travel as the demand requires (BC Interior travels to 4 cities regularly) * Other related duties as assigned Apply at: https://hrnet.gss.org/HRNETLIVE/CustomizationSitemap.aspx?path=Navigation%2fHome Company: Good Samaritan Salary: $40.75 - $50.87/hr Contract: PERMANENT
